Danica Patricks Future
SONOMA — When her racing career is over Danica Patrick would like to own a winery and would like, in a perfect world, to produce fine bottles of cabernet sauvignon.
“I’ve tried pinots,” Patrick said Thursday at Infineon Raceway, “but they are just not big enough for me. I’m willing to experiment though. I’ll try just about anything. I’d even try whites.”
Patrick will be at Infineon this weekend to compete in the Grand Prix of Sonoma County. Qualifying will begin at 1:15 p.m. Saturday and the race is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Patrick celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary in 2006 in Sonoma County.
“There was magic in the air,” Patrick said.
The most popular driver in the IndyCar League, Patrick said the best advice she’s received was from the legendary Bobby Rahal.
“Bobby said he wanted a lifestyle in racing that he could continue forever,” Patrick said. “That’s what I am trying to do year-after-year.’
Which would explain why Patrick is a savvy and enthusiastic promoter of her image and is not shy about voicing her opinion, which in a heated moment has her caught on camera using words not said in church.
“I try to listen to what my Mom told me,” Patrick said. “I try to be a lady. I never want to lose that image as a role model. I don’t ever want to be blasphemous.”
